400 Highland Ave.
Urology Consultants of the North Shore provides comprehensive care for the full spectrum of both adult and pediatric urologic conditions. The practice was formed in 1999 through a merger of the area's two leading urology groups that had been in practice on the North Shore since the early 1960s. The practice has grown remarkably from the original five urologists and now includes eight board-certified urologists and a physician's assistant.
The main offices are in Salem at 400 Highland Avenue (8,000 square-feet facility) and in Newburyport. Both have state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment such as digital ultrasound and high-tech urodynamics. The urologists provide the latest in sophisticated office-based procedures, including treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia that include transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), transurethral microwave treatment (TUMT), or transurethral needle ablation (TUNA).
For patients' convenience, Urology Consultants of the North Shore also operates a satellite office at the Beverly Hospital at Danvers Medical and Day Surgery Center, 480 Maple Street in Danvers. All of the urologists at Urology Consultants of the North Shore are on staff at North Shore Medical Center, Beverly Hospital, North Shore Children's Hospital and the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital.
Altogether, the medical staff at Urology Consultants of the North Shore logs about 125 patients each day, which totals about 20,000 appointments per year.
Individualized, Community-Based Care
The medical staff at Urology Consultants of the North Shore works closely with each patient to determine the best course of action. The process of designing an individualized treatment plan begins with a thorough evaluation, followed by an accurate diagnosis. In addition to the typical history and physical, our physicians listen intently to each patient's concerns.
A Team Approach
While it's clear that the urologists at Urology Consultants of the North Shore are committed to the most advanced procedures and state-of-the art equipment, they also pride themselves on their long-standing tradition of quality, compassionate patient care.
Not only have our physicians have worked together for more than a decade, a few have been partners for the past 23 years. The cornerstone of the practice's philosophy can be summed up in one work: teamwork.
The physicians will consult each other on difficult cases. They help each other out if someone has patients at the hospital. And when they learn a new procedure, they share their expertise.
Undoubtedly, this team approach benefits the physicians as it creates a cordial and professionally stimulating work environment. This teamwork also translates into big advantages for patients, too. A patient with a difficult problem finds several urologists on hand at all times. Patients very frequently obtain an immediate second opinion at Urology Consultants of the North Shore.
The entire staff at Urology Consultants of the North Shore works together to put patients at ease. While patients may feel uncomfortable or nervous about discussing their urologic problems, these anxieties generally fade as patients become acquainted with the office and medical staff.
